TOUR SCARVES
1977, BARRY IMOFF PRODUCTIONS
These three woollen scarves in dark blue, red and black looked kind of unofficial due to the quality of the logo, though we doubt ‘70s technology could do much better. Oddly, the tag itself does not even carry the official logo but does have a ‘©1977 KISS/Aucoin Management Inc.’ byline. Thankfully, manufacturer Barry Imhoff, was a huge campaigner against bootlegs - even chairing a panel with Ron Boutwell in 1978 on how to beat them. His company did do a range of official merchandise - but was most famous for his album cover mirrors for bands such as Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin. An internal memo by Aucoin Management also mentions that, along with his KISS mirrors, the scarves were to be 'advertised in a Billboard magazine double-page spread'. Which seemed ambitious, and no, that never happened.
