KISS’s ‘almost appearance’ as Grand Marshalls at the 1979 event came to an abrupt end when the New Orleans police department went on strike leaving KISS without the appropriate security, forcing the band to cancel. The city were unaware of the late cancellation and these shirts were made. Four variants exist. However the blue and the ringer tee simply say 'Mardi Gras' rather than 'Mardi Gras '79'
